How can artists communicate their work in ways that resonate across cultures, platforms, and audiences? This question was at the heart of ART-PRESS – Artistic PR Workshop, a cross-border collaboration between Romanian and Norwegian partners, recently featured on EPALE.

The project brings together artists, educators, and cultural professionals to explore how communication itself becomes an artistic tool — shaping identity, accessibility, and public engagement. From branding and digital presence to advocacy and relevance, the training modules highlight how artists can position themselves authentically while connecting with diverse audiences.

What the project covers

Over two days of intensive sessions, participants dive into themes such as:

  • Artist Branding and Identity – exploring how language, framing, and representation influence how artists are perceived.

  • PR as Artist Advocacy – understanding the role of PR in protecting creative voices and translating artistic value into public relevance.

  • Art in Context – examining cross-border communication, ownership, and the impact of technology and AI in the art world.

  • Strategic PR and Digital Communication – learning how to build visibility through social media, storytelling, and care-centered communication practices.

Why it matters

Art does not exist in isolation. Whether through a self-tape, a performance, or a social media post, the way artists communicate shapes both the experience of their work and their professional opportunities. By bridging artistic integrity with accessible communication strategies, ART-PRESS empowers artists to be both storytellers and advocates.

A collaborative effort

The Romanian-Norwegian partnership is key: it allows participants to exchange perspectives, challenge assumptions, and test communication strategies in different cultural contexts. This collaborative model reflects the very essence of art as a shared language that transcends borders.

Looking ahead

As the art world continues to evolve, so do the tools and responsibilities of artists. ART-PRESS is more than a training — it is an invitation to see communication as an extension of creativity, advocacy, and connection.
